Brand, Marketing & Communications

Experienced in developing and executing impactful, goal-aligned integrated communications

I developed and executed integrated brand and marketing communications strategies for companies and clients in education, retail, healthcare, and hospitality, achieving media coverage that generated returns of at least three times the investment, often surpassing key performance indicators. Most recently, I directed internal communications and engagement for the largest faculty at the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand, and notably helped bridge leadership and faculty members, guiding them through multiple leadership and workspace transitions and structural changes.

Connecting leadership with staff

As the Internal Communications Lead for the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences at AUT, I ensure that our faculty members are well-informed and connected to our leadership team by creating clear and engaging communications that foster transparency and collaboration. By crafting executive messages, hosting town halls, and maintaining our intranet, I help bridge the gap between leadership and faculty, making sure everyone’s voice is valued.

One of my key initiatives is "Brett's Briefing," a bi-weekly update from the Dean that keeps our community informed about important developments and celebrates our collective achievements. Thanks to these efforts, a satisfaction rate of over 75% was achieved regarding the content and quality of our communications.

Spreading the 'shiokness' of Singapore food in New Zealand

In 2019, I founded and built the branding and marketing for Super Shiok Eats, a unique takeaway and catering service specialising in authentic Singaporean cuisine. I crafted the brand’s identity, including its logo, website, and promotional materials, and introduced innovative products like DIY Singapore heritage food kits. Since its debut, Super Shiok Eats has garnered a dedicated fan base, becoming a beloved choice among food enthusiasts in New Zealand for its genuine Singaporean flavours and culinary experience.

Meetings of the minds

I took the traditional idea of an American-style town hall and reinvented it as the HES Hui, the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences' all-staff meeting. From the ground up, I organised quarterly HES Hui events, handling everything from securing venues to arranging catering and managing communications before and after. Over the past year, there was a remarkable increase of over 50% in participation, including at least a third of the faculty staff.
